Better be wearing green on March 17th! The color green is widely correlated with March 17th, better known as St. Patrick’s Day which ensues a celebration of Ireland with music, dancing, and sometimes a few Guinness beers mixed in! People who celebrate St. Patrick’s day sometimes experience a gnarly hangover that can provide an air of unavailability for the next few business days. However, CBD is in your corner to help you feel your best no matter how you celebrate holidays
St. Patrick’s Day was first celebrated in honor of Saint Patrick who was born in the fourth century in Roman-occupied Britain, at 16, he was kidnapped by Irish pirates into slavery and became a Shepard. During this time, Patrick became religious and managed to escape slavery on the Gaelic coast of Ireland. He returned to convert the Irish to Christianity and converted thousands from the Pagan religion. Legend states he passed on the 17th of March and he is considered Ireland’s foremost saint.
Today, St. Patrick’s day is celebrated all over the world due to the migration of Irish during the potato famine and drinking is an arguably integral aspect due to the Catholic church removing the ban on alcohol during the lent period in honor of St. Patrick. Many Irish believe that celebrations outside of Ireland are more intensive than native Ireland. Beers are dyed green all over the United States of America and large parades are held in large metropolitan cities and small towns as well.
Post large drinking holidays such as New Years, Fourth of July and St. Patrick’s day, hangovers are rampant all across the country and the world. While hangovers are best prevented by limiting alcohol intake, eating a carb-rich meal prior and additional water consumption, CBD has proven to relieve uncomfortable symptoms that follow after a long day or night of alcohol consumption.
The Next Day
Studies have shown that CBD can be more effective than pills by interacting with serotonin receptors and your entire endocannabinoid system. Low doses have been used within chemotherapy patients with promising results, by implementing a CBD tincture, nausea symptoms are relieved naturally without side effects.
Nothing Like Antioxidants
CBD also acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidant. Most of the time, antioxidants are thought to be highest in foods high in vitamin C however, a patent created by the US Health and Human Services over 15 years ago states that, “cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties…in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, HIV, and dementia”. CBD is higher in antioxidants than lemons and blueberries and also relieves pain, such as headaches, naturally. The human body uses antioxidants to stabilize free radicals such as alcohol and limit damage to organs and cells that can deteriorate with extended heavy drinking. By increasing your antioxidant intake after waking up with a hangover, the liver is required to perform at a lower setting to extinguish toxins.
